The trio of producer Sam Burke, vocalist Cliff Kuhn-Lloyd, and drummer AJ Schortman began collaborating when they were spread across the east coast. At the time Cliff was living above a theater in Pennsyvalnia, and sent songs to Sam and AJ in Boston. Sam's hands were injured, so he taught AJ his production techniques. Cliff was outvoted and the band was named CliffLight.
